Landslide

I haven't blogged in a few days - and for good reason. If you are local to Pittsburgh, perhaps you have seen on the news about the Pitcairn landslide. Just so happens that it is about 200 yards from the church. The church is in no danger at this point, but the fire chief and his wife had to have their house torn down to save the others on the street. It has been a nightmare for them and their neighbors - as 5 houses have been evacuated.

Our parking lot was filled with emergency personnel, satellite vans from local TV stations, family, and one too many gawkers. It was great to see how people from the town pulled together to help these folks. The mayor and I have started a fund to help the victims. You can go to any Citizen's Bank branch and donate to the Pitcairn Landslide Victim's Fund, and those will be distributed to the families as needed.

Check out the video below.

Wow Dave! It's amazing how your community comes to you in times of trouble - great job!! What a day - you're on TV (again) and you get a new youth pastor! :)

There was real God power in our service today. I know that the Lord will bless these families and work in miraculous ways.
We'll be taking a trip to Citizen's this week.. a family field trip... a way to teach how we can listen to God's message and help others.
